Holcomb started working at 11Alive in 1991. He did, however, accept his first position as an afternoon news reporter at WMAZ AM/WAYS FM radio. He went to the TV side of the building about 9 months later to work as a reporter and weather anchor for WMAZ-TV.
Chris gained firsthand knowledge of every facet of journalism especially in the reporting department while working at WMAZ-TV. He produced and edited his own content, reported on the Legislature, and filled in as an anchor, weather anchor on the weekends, and morning and evening anchor for weekday newscasts.
After working at WMAZ for three and a half years, he received an offer to work at WXIA-TV in Atlanta, the city where he was born. Chris was given the title of Chief Meteorologist in 2014.
He now appears on the newscasts for 11Alive and WATL at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., Primetime, and 11 p.m., Monday through Friday. He received multiple Emmy Awards for his work as a weather anchor. For instance, he has won Emmys for Spot News/Team coverage and Special Continuous Coverage as a storm tracker.
