Elisa Raffa’s Career From KCAU to FOX46
Raffa landed her first job immediately after completing her college studies at Cornell University. She joined KCAU Channel 9 in June 2015 and left in June 2017. During that time, Elisa worked alongside The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore to cover a blizzard.
Cantore taught her many things in a whiteout, and she also picked up a lot from the local farmers during the planting and harvesting seasons. She also learned a lot about agriculture from soil, seed, and weather scientists.
Her next assignment was with KOLR. She joined the station in June 2017 and left in October 2020. During that time, Raffa faced the hardships of waking up as early as 1:30 AM every single day as the weekday morning meteorologist.
It was also at KOLR that she earned the American Meteorological Society Certified Broadcast Meteorologist distinction, CBM #813. In October 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, FOX46 came calling and Elisa couldn’t fumble this chance.
During the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak, she stepped up to serve as a virtual science educator as the museum switched to emergency childcare. Those children filled a void in her heart that she never knew existed. Elisa has proven herself to be a trustworthy meteorologist at FOX46.
