Who is Garrett Haake?
Garrett Haake is the senior Capitol Hill correspondent for MSNBC and NBC News. He joined NBC in 2007 as an intern right after he graduated from Southern Methodist University. Haake began as a desk assistant for NBC Nightly News in New York.
In the following years, Haake worked as an associate producer and researcher. He was also a reporter covering the 2012 U.S. Presidential Election for the Mitt Romney Presidential Campaign.
Haake also participated in extensive coverage of the COVID-19 Pandemic which affected everyone around the world. As a reporter, he was at the forefront of covering the Impeachment of Donald Trump in 2019.

Garrett Haake’s First Wife
Haake was previously married to CNN journalist Sara Murray. They got married in September 2017 on a farm in Austin, Texas. They first met in Iowa where both were covering Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.
Despite their busy schedules, Sara and Haake made a point to go on dates and spend time together as much as possible. The two got engaged in 2015 at Murrat’s family Thanksgiving dinner in Michigan.
Their beautiful far wedding was attended by fellow journalists such as Katy Tur, Maeve Reston, Ashley Parker of the Washington Post, and Michael Barbaro among others. Unfortunately, Haake and Sara divorced in 2019 due to reasons only known to them.
Sara is known for being publicly shamed by Trump when she covered the presidential campaign. He called her “a total novice reporter”, “unemotional”, “low-key” and “terrible”.

Garrett Haake and Allison’s Wedding
Garrett and former NewsNation’s White House correspondent Allison Harris got married in September 2021. They welcomed their daughter Lane Loree on June 28, 2022.
Allison Harris shared a photo of her newborn at the time with the caption;
“Starting the new year with the MOST exciting news … I can’t wait for our little summer girl! The biggest blessing of our lives already, praying for this healthy, happy baby girl.”

Garrett Haake’s Career at MSNBC
Haake studied at Klein High School and was later offered the President’s Scholarship at Southern Methodist University. While at SMU, he was trained at the school’s TV news program The Daily Update where he got to perfect his anchoring and journalism skills.
Haake graduated in 2007 with a major in journalism. He began his journalism career at NBC Nightly News in New York where he was an intern.
Garret now works as a full-time NBC News and MSNBC correspondent. Beginning in July 2011, he was at the forefront of covering Republican Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign. He traveled to around 36 states in 18 months normally as a one-man crew shooting videos, producing interviews, and providing visual stories for NBC News.
Garret has also worked at WUSA TV in Washington DC, PBS as a fill-in anchor gust analyst for Kansas City Week in Review, and as a general reporter for KSHB-TV. Due to his exceptional documentary and environmental reporting, Garret was able to win two Emy Awards.
