Gene Kang is an American journalist working as a general assignment reporter for KTLA 5 News since joining the station in September 2020. He has most recently served at FRANCE 24 as the West Coast Network Correspondent.

Kang started his journalism career in January 1999 at NBC Chicago News 5 as an overnight assignment editor and field producer. Three years later, he joined Cars.com where he served as the editorial assistant to the senior content producer. He collaborated with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on child safety seat stories.
He edited and researched auto safety feature-length content for the online community. In 2003, Kang joined The Boulware Group where he served as the director of candidate relations as well as a research assistant Boulware group in Chicago.
Kang was in charge of making sure that client relations were coordinated throughout national executive searches for companies ranging from the New York City Council to Amtrak and the United Negro College Fund.
Kang has also served CBS News, Fox Broadcasting Company, and WHAS-TV as an anchor and reporter before joining KFMB Stations in nSan Diego.
In October 2017, Kang relocated to Greater Los Angeles Area and joined NBC News where he served as a reporter. Three years later, he joined FRANCE 24 until November 2021 when he left for his current station, KTLA.
