The Fox journalist was born Guy Pelham Benson on March 7, 1985, in Saudi Arabia. He spent much of his childhood abroad before relocating to Ridgewood, New Jersey, where he joined the middle school and Ridgewood High School.

In May 2015, Benson came out as gay by revealing ahead of time that his upcoming book, End of Discussion, will have the following footnote: “Guy here. So, I am gay.”
In response to a question, asked in an interview, Benson said, “Gay rights is not something that captures my attention or my passions.” He married Adam Wise in September 2019 in a ceremony attended by 150 of their closest friends and family members.
The ceremony was hosted at the Charles Krug Winery in Napa Valley, California. Benson and the future bride-to-be first met in 2015 when he experienced the most terrifying television appearance of his life. The two later became engaged in 2018.

Benson started working at FOX News officially as a contributor in 2013. He currently contributes to FOX News Channel (FNC) and hosts The Guy Benson Show on FOX News Radio (FNR), which airs weekdays from 3-6 PM ET.

The Guy Benson Show on FNR provides conservative commentary on politics and society. Most recently, he provided coverage for the 2019 State of the Union address by President Donald Trump for FNR.
He attracted national attention throughout the 2008 presidential campaign on two more occasions. Benson, who was there in the studio for the interview, described his experience after the Obama campaign criticized WGN radio in Chicago for permitting Stanley Kurtz to visit their station in August.
Then 14 days before the election, he teamed up with Ed Morrissey and Mary Katharine Ham to write “The Comprehensive Argument Against Barack Obama,” which was published on Hot Air.
