Jake, an award-winning journalist started his career at the of 14 as a film critic by sending numerous letters to the Houston Chronicle outlining his qualifications for the post. In April 2002, he was given the job.
A publicity competition that was developed while working with the Houston Chronicle quickly became the well-known “Win A Date With Jake Hamilton” competition (inspired by the movie Win A Date With Tad Hamilton).
Prior to leaving the Chronicle in May 2006 after graduating from Clear Lake High School, he wrote hundreds more reviews over the course of the following four years.
Hamilton left the Chronicle and started looking for a bigger outlet television. This prompted him to try out for the late-night PBS discussion show “The After Party” in Houston, which is hosted by Emmy-winning actor Ernie Manouse.
Hamilton was approached by KHOU-TV (the CBS affiliate in Houston) in March 2008 about being a guest on their morning chat show, Great Day Houston.
He was given his own program, “Jake’s Takes,” where he now continues to cover movies and do weekly interviews with actors and actresses, and it has received positive feedback from the studio and viewers alike.
Moving forward and higher, he introduced “Jake’s Takes” to FOX TV in Houston in October 2010, where he received an Emmy for “Best On-Air Talent.”
Hamilton, who frequently sat across from Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, and George Clooney, rose to prominence as a Hollywood reporter and even found himself in the center of controversy when he engaged in a viral interview spat with Samuel L. Jackson.
Then, in November 2013, Hamilton made the enormous leap to Chicago, where he joined the fantastic cast of “Good Day Chicago” for FOX-TV (WFLD-TV) and brought “Jake’s Takes” with him.
