Who is Jodi Applegate?
Jodi Applegate is a broadcast journalist from the United States. She worked as an anchorwoman for MSNBC and NBC News both locally and internationally. She worked temporarily as an actress before transitioning to newscasting.
Applegate started working as a stand-in anchor on WCBS radio’s all-news program in 2009. She also served as Mario Bosquez’s replacement as the guest host of Living Today on the Martha Stewart Living Radio channel on Sirius XM Radio. Applegate also appeared on radio discussion shows hosted by Joan Hamburg on WOR in New York and Howie Carr on WRKO in Boston.
In September 2009, she joined News 12 Long Island as an evening co-anchor, making her comeback to television news. She was permitted to quit News 12 so that she could work for WPIX with three months left on her one-year contract.
She was appointed as the sole anchor of the station’s redesigned 10:00 PM weeknight newscasts, and she began serving in that position on October 11, 2010. The station’s hour-long, 5:00 PM newscast, which was introduced in the fall of 2011, was also hosted by Applegate.

Applegate married New York Yankees television broadcaster Michael Kay on February 12, 2011, in New York City. The wedding was presided over by Rudolph Giuliani, former mayor of New York.
On November 21, 2012, Applegate announced that she was expecting a child via gestational surrogate. She proceeded to announce her resignation from WPIX. On December 19, 2012, Applegate resigned from WPIX.
The couple welcomed their daughter, Caledonia in January 2013. They welcomed their second child, a son named Charles in November 2014. Jodi and her family live in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Michael Kay met Jodi Applegate at the New York Emmys and was unable to refrain from speaking about her on his radio show after their short encounter.
When Applegate’s producer informed her of Kay’s comments, she contacted her to taunt him, but when they hit it off, Kay sought a relationship. The rest as they say is history.
