Why Did Lauren Talarico Leave KHOU 11?
Lauren recently revealed on social media that she will no longer be hosting weekly 10 p.m. newscasts and will instead be covering the day shift in addition to continuing to lead weekend morning newscasts for the CBS affiliate news station.
She said on January 12 that it has been difficult to maintain the balance of continuing to work the night shift while still finding time for her kids as they grew older in an Instagram video.
She added, “I mostly feel worn out, guilty for staying up late, and that I am moving nonstop from sunrise to sunset with very little time to just breathe. “It really started to wear on my body and mind.”
At that point, Talarico made the decision to approach Liz Roldan, her news director, and request permission to adjust her schedule and she did. She said; “She didn’t think twice and she assured me that she recognized the value of having a balance in my career and family. I felt really fortunate. I want more people could have that encounter.”
Although the exact timing of the changes was not known at the moment, viewers saw Talarico hosting her regular Saturday morning shows in addition to 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
“You’ll see me working the day shift going forward”, she wrote. “Here’s to rush hour, doing what I love while watching three shows in a row, and then, hopefully, being able to tuck my kids into bed most nights.”
