Peggy Kusinski’s Career at ESPN and NBC 5
Peggy Kusinski, an internationally renowned sports journalist, started working for NBC5 in 2000 as a sports reporter. She played an important role in contributing to “Sports Sunday” on NBC5 as an expert on the Blackhawks.
She has held different positions as the Saturday morning host of “The Point After” and the afternoon SportsCenter anchor on ESPN Radio 1000. Before working for the station, Kusinski co-hosted WMAQ-AM’s “Sports Huddle,” making her the first female sports talk show host in Chicago.
After several stints as a producer for CBS and NBC during the Albertville Winter Olympics and the Barcelona Summer Games, she launched her talk show career at CLTV in 1996 not long after moving back to Chicago. She also served as an anchor for ABC Radio Sports during the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
Kusinski started her network sports career as a production assistant for ESPN-TV in Bristol, Connecticut. She rose through the ranks to become an Associate Producer for “NFL GameDay,” “Sunday Morning Sportsday,” “SportsCenter,” and the reality show “Outside the Lines.”

Kusinski returned to the station after a 19-year absence, having previously worked as a sports anchor at NBC-owned WMAQ-Channel 5. Miller, a sports reporter for ABC-owned WLS-Channel 7, and Jeff Meller co-hosted a weekly Chicago Bears pregame program on ESPN 1000 last season. Miller has stepped in as a weekday host in the last several years.
