By quoting Leviticus 19:28 which states: “Do not cut your bodies for the dead, and do not mark your skin with tattoos. I am the LORD,” he said that an Old Testament Bible verse condemning tattoos does not relate to modern life.
He went on to say that some principles were brought over from the Old Testament to the New Testament, and that those rules should be followed since they are “eternal.”
Lentz gave examples of Old Testament animal blood sacrifices that no longer apply because Jesus is now the sacrificial lamb. He completed his response by noting that when it comes to tattoos, everyone must act on their own personal convictions.
