Peter Doocy Career as a Journalist
Doocy covered the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries as well as the party’s nominee, Joe Biden, presidential campaign. Doocy was named a White House correspondent by Fox News in January 2021 to cover the incoming Biden administration.
He quickly made a name for himself by asking the president and White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki awkward questions that elicited annoyed responses. Several exchanges between Doocy and Psaki became Internet memes.
After covering a meeting in the White House East Room about economic competitiveness and inflation, a departing Doocy asked Biden, “Do you think inflation is a political liability in the midterms?” As ABC reported, he lowers his voice and moves his gaze away from the hot mic beneath him “‘It’s a great asset more inflation,’ Biden responded sarcastically.
‘What a stupid son of a bitch,’ he added, shaking his head.” Some sources have speculated on whether Biden intended for his remarks to be picked up by the microphone. Within an hour, Biden called Doocy to clear the air. “It’s nothing personal, pal,” Biden said, according to Doocy.

On Monday, 24th January, U.S. President, Biden appeared to be caught on camera calling a Fox News correspondent a “stupid son of a bitch” after the journalist asked about inflation. It’s unclear whether the president realized his microphone was still on, but the incident was captured on video.
“Do you think inflation is a political liability going into the midterms?” Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy could be heard yelling as journalists filed out of the room. “No, it’s a great asset,” Biden grumbled sarcastically. “More inflation. What a stupid son of a bitch.”
Doocy later told Fox News’s Bret Baier that some other reporters had to tell him what the president said because he couldn’t hear anything over the White House press wranglers’ chanting. Doocy said on “Hannity” later Monday night that the president called him an hour later and said, “It’s nothing personal, pal.”
When asked if President Biden had apologized, Doocy replied, “He cleared the air, and I appreciate it. We had a nice call.” The White House has not yet responded to the president’s remark.
