In 1982, Eddy Meyer began working for newspapers as a copyboy before finishing a cadetship with the Daily Mirror and Daily Telegraph.
He made the transition to television at the end of 1986, working for two years in the Sydney newsroom of Channel 10 before accepting the chance to relocate to London and work on the team launching the new satellite network Sky News.
Two years were spent developing a 24-hour news service that would compete with traditional television broadcasters, a first for Britain.
