Suzanne Malveaux is a television journalist from the United States. She became a household name for her two-decade tenure at CNN. Her father, Dr. Floyd Joseph Malveaux, founded the National Human Genome Center at Howard University and served as executive director of the Merck Childhood Asthma Network before becoming dean of the College of Medicine at that institution. Her mother, Myrna Maria Ruiz, was a teacher in the public schools.

It was revealed on January 6, 2023, that Suzanne will be leaving CNN after 20 years. She stated that she approached the network some months before and sought to leave her full-time job, and that “they supported her.”
The reporter joins a list of recent departures from the network that includes Pentagon correspondent Barbara Starr and anchor-reporter Martin Savidge.
Although Malveaux’s name was mentioned as one of the on-air personalities leaving at the time, a source indicated her departure had nothing to do with the layoffs.
According to her memo, she spoke with CNN in the fall of 2022 about focusing on her family while perhaps seeking some new opportunities. One of those initiatives will be working together with Nelson Mandela’s great-grandson to tell stories and highlight communities in conflict poised to achieve peace.
