Who was Gregory Itzin?

Gregory Itzin was an American actor. He was best recognized for his character as Charles Logan in the action drama series 24. He joined the cast of 24 as Vice President Charles Logan in 2005, halfway through the fourth season. By the next season, the character had advanced to the position of President and had become one of the central protagonists in the plot.

Gregory Itzin Career

Itzin has appeared in guest starring roles on various television shows like in the MacGyver episode “Final Approach” (1986). He received a Tony Award nomination for his role in the Pulitzer Prize–winning play The Kentucky Cycle.

He joined the 24 cast in 2005, midway through the fourth season, playing Vice President Charles Logan. The character rose to the position of President by the following season and was one of the main characters in the story.

For this performance, Itzin was nominated for an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Since he had previously tried out for a role during the second season of the show and was acquainted with one of the producers, he was exempt from having to audition for the part.

In the eighth season of the show, he made a comeback to assist President Allison Taylor in preserving the Peace Treaty. An Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series emerged as a result of this.

Coincidentally, Itzin previously portrayed a presidential candidate in a cheese product commercial who was called a “doofus” for not enjoying cheese. In a 2007 episode of Robot Chicken, he made a cameo as William Adama, Dick Tracy, and a police officer at Randy’s Halloween party.

He is a member of the Los Angeles-based Matrix Theatre Company and has performed on stage in multiple award-winning productions of Waiting for Godot, The Homecoming, and The Birthday Party. He has also starred in multiple theatrical venues across the nation.

He performed in the Antaeus Company’s King Lear play in 2010 as the Earl of Kent. His portrayal earned him the L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award.
