Sara and her husband are blessed with two children. Their first child, a daughter named Isla was born in 2020. In June 2022, they welcomed their second child, a son named Luca Angelo James. Luca weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces, and stood 20 3/4 inches at the time of her birth.
“We are extremely happy to be expanding our family. “Isla adores babies and can’t wait to be a big sister,” Sara said as she revealed her pregnancy on Front Row in November 2021. “Angelo and I both have one younger sister.” There is no love like a sibling relationship.”

Shookman was an anchor and reporter for WKYC. One of her most memorable experiences was covering the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. She was the only local journalist covering the games and reported to other sites, including USA Today.
Sara began her post-graduate career at WOUB in Athens, Ohio, and later went to Knoxville, Tennessee, where she worked as a reporter and news anchor at WVLT. The Tennessee Associated Press named her as one of the most significant television reporters in the state.
When Ariel Castro was taken into custody, she covered extensively the story, and thanks to her perseverance and excellent reporting, the WKYC crew was recognized with an Emmy Award for Best Newscast in 2013.
She was also employed by Channel 3 as a journalist when their team received the same honor the following year. Sara co-hosted a podcast with Channel 3 producer Danielle Sills and worked as a reporter for Channel 3. The podcast focused mostly on Cleveland-related news and culture.
Directors and producers alike have praised Sara highly for her exemplary journalism, professionalism, and excellent communication abilities. She was referred to as the “anchor of the future” by Brennan Donnellan, director of WKYC news.

Where Did Sara Shookman Go?
Shookman left her job on September 12, 2022, so she could spend more time with her family. She claims that for the time being, her main priority is taking care of her two lovely children, Isla and Luca, with the help of her husband Angelo, of course.
A statement from the station reads; “From all of us at 3News, we say to Sara that we love you and are going to miss you. We have committed ourselves to supporting you 100 percent as you join your home team. This is merely a “See you soon,” not a farewell.”
